I'm not really a Met fan, but here is my first month look at the state of the Mets.
They're not where they want to be. Only 2 games over .500 and 1.5 games behind the hated Phillies is the last thing the Mets expected. They got Santana, to make sure they got better, but they're actually worse off at this stage of the season than they were last year. It's not panic time yet, but the Phillies look good even with Howard playing under-par, and the Braves can never be counted out. After Santana and Maine, the Mets can't really rely on another pitcher 2 of their most relied on relievers have ERAs over 5. Reyes is hitting under .300 and has his head in the clouds! The Mets better work out some issues, otherwise they are going to be struggling for the wild-card spot, and not lasting long in the playoffs, if they get there.
