Game 1
Since today got rained out, the Yanks and the Tigers only played two games this weekend, each winning one. As is his custom, Kei Igawa pitched horrible, giving up 6 runs and 11 hits in only 3 innings!! Rogers did what he had to do to give his team the win, but the closer T. Jones almost blew it as he gave up 3 runs in the ninth. Analysis- Giambi turned in a great performance and a hit home run for the 2nd game in a row. Jeter did his best to spark the offense as he went 2-4, but his efforts were not enough. Cano also had two hits and had an RBI in the ninth. The only good sign from this game is that Giambi and Cano look like they may be turning around.
Game 2
Jeter continued to be the life of the team, as he went 2-5 with a home run in the first. and Rasner lead the team to win with his second stellar performance in two starts this year. He proved he can be a rock of the staff with this start, pitching great against a good team on nation television. This was an easy win for them, and they got back to .500.
Analysis- Giambi and Cano continued to hit, turning in matching 1-3 performances with 1 walk performances. Giambi tacked on his 20th rbi of the year and Cano scored his 11th. This is another good sign for these two struggling players, as they have now each had hits 4 games, with Cano actually having a 6 game hitting streak.
