Ever since growing that mustache, Giambi has been on a tear! He's been hitting well over .300 with 9 home runs. The guy has redeemed himself and solidified himself as the Yankees first basemen. Without the shift, the guy would probably be hitting .300 for the season. He's still one of the best hitters in the league, and with his improved defense is the best first basemen on the Yankees. He may be looking at a contract extension, although the 22 million dollar option for next year is not likely to be picked up by the Yanks. But the two sides will hopefully work something out, and Gimabi may be starting at first the team come 2009.
But Giambi isn't the only one with "the stache". Johnny Damon has been hitting over .400 this month, and is hitting in the mid .300s since growing his mustache.
Maybe there's something about this facial hair, and if there is then the rest of the team ought to start doing the same.
